Idaho – the Gem State aka Famous Potatoes

8/18/20 crossing over to Idaho – the Gem State, which was the old slogan for Idaho, now renamed as Famous Potatoes.  We took the Coeur d’Alene boat tour.  I didn’t realize how big the Coeur d’Alene lake is.  We cruised for 90 min and still didn’t cover the entire lake.   Did you know there was a gold rush here in the 1860s?! Lovely lake houses spread across the lake, each with their own private dock. The only way into town is through the water way.

Leaving Coeur d’Alene, we found a camp site in Hope, ID with a catchy name:  Beyond Hope RV Resort.  We encountered another heat wave, 92! While waiting for the AC to cool down in the living unit,  we set up the awnings and sat outside to catch some air.   The camp host and his wife came over to visit.   They recommended to have a drink by the resort restaurant and catch the sunset.  As they were leaving,  I walked down to the beach area and caught one of  the most amazing sunset.   Wow,  the golden color of the sun begin to dip into the horizon created the most dramatic reflection onto the lake — couldn’t have painted a better picture in color, and no photo can capture the essence of what they eyes can see and the indescribable feelings.

8/19/20 we spent another day at this resort just to rest.   Met an interesting couple as we sat outside beneath our awning to have pancakes and coffee.

We clicked right away talking politics,  etc.  That evening we enjoyed a lovely sunset dinner by the lake.   Amazing that the waitstaff did not wear mask and all the patrons didn’t wear masks upon entering the restaurant,  albeit we were all dining on the patio.  It seems so normal and felt like Covid19 does not exists in this region of the country. It was so nice!

So that’s it for Idaho on this trip… onward to the Big Sky state, Montana.
